NLP

What is NLP?

NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) focuses on how people learn, communicate, change, grow and heal. NLP is interested not in what we think, but in how we think.

Sometimes called an instruction manual for our brain, NLP includes techniques to help you develop and evolve your own solutions and change negative behavior. An NLP practitioner can help you learn to alter your words, thoughts and emotions, in order to change unhealthy behaviors forever.

Neuro refers to the brain and nervous system, where thoughts and emotions originate.

NLP explains how we take in information from the external world and make sense of it neurologically. Medical science acknowledges how neurological processes affect how we feel and how we behave. Once we become aware that how we are thinking affects how we feel, we can have more choice about the impact life experiences have on us.

Linguistic refers to the words we use to talk to ourselves and with others.

This aspect of NLP is about noticing the kinds of things we say to ourselves on the inside, about discovering patterns in this internal dialogue; finding out how useful they are and changing them when they aren't helping us.

Programming suggests that behavior can be changed.

Programming implies that to some degree we may have been molded by the beliefs, cultural values and thought patterns we have received from parents, peers, the media, and so on, throughout our lives.

In fact, 'programming' promises new possibilities too: If programs can be created, they can also be undone, and limiting ones replaced with more useful alternatives.
